Airborne Heating in Multi-Family Homes with Temovex Air Handling Units

How can we combine energy efficiency, comfort, and aesthetics in modern homes?
Traditionally, homes have a heating system in the form of underfloor heating/radiators and a separate ventilation system. As BBR requirements become stricter and more energy-efficient houses are built, it is now possible to heat the home using only the ventilation system.

Why FTX units?
A modern and energy-efficient house is built today with well-insulated and airtight building envelopes. For ventilation and energy savings to function optimally, mechanical supply and exhaust air (FTX) is a prerequisite.

With REC Temovex air handling units, you get heat recovery of up to 90%, and thanks to the low heating demand of modern homes, you also have the possibility to use airborne heating. By choosing an apartment unit instead of a central unit, space is used more efficiently as no large fan rooms or large ducts are needed.

What is airborne heating?
With an airborne heating system, water-based underfloor heating and radiators are replaced, which provides both cost savings and an aesthetic advantage (no radiators).
Heat is instead distributed through the air. In an airborne heating system, the Temovex unit operates with a variable airflow (base/boost) according to the heating demand at the time. This option in our control system is called ECO2 and is designed to optimally manage the airborne heating system.

Depending on the heating demand, supply air temperatures vary between +16°C and +43°C when it is coldest outside. Everything is regulated steplessly, ensuring that an even temperature is maintained. ECO2 also means that unnecessary ventilation does not occur when it is not needed. This in turn saves both energy and money.

Advantages of airborne heating
• Good indoor climate/demand control:
When choosing an apartment unit with ECO2, you get individual regulation with precise demand adjustment for both airflow and temperature tailored to your home.

• Cost savings
– No space-consuming ventilation ducts
– No space-consuming fan rooms
– No fire dampers
– Larger rentable area
– No underfloor heating/radiators

• Energy savings
– Away mode
– Bypass
– Lower pressure drop with short duct systems

• Aesthetic advantage
– No radiators
