When the castle’s changing rooms, showers, and staff rooms were set to undergo renovation, the focus was on preventing unpleasant odors and moisture from being reintroduced into the premises.
– By installing REC Indovent’s RT1000 unit with a high-efficiency counterflow heat exchanger, the return of odors and moisture was avoided. Additionally, they gained energy-efficient heat recovery from the exhaust air, leading to energy-saving operation, says Claes Jäderholm, CEO of REC Indovent.

For Sofiero Castle, the Temovex FTX series was chosen, a product line that has been manufactured with counterflow heat exchangers for more than 50 years.
– REC Indovent’s counterflow heat exchangers consist of a fully fixed exchanger, meaning there are no moving parts that could break. Other types of exchangers contain moving parts, which increase the risk of maintenance issues.
In a counterflow heat exchanger, there is no transfer of moisture or odors. The supply and exhaust air channels are completely separated. Other types of heat exchangers often have internal leakage between the exhaust and supply air, which can cause used air from, for example, bathrooms or kitchens to mix with fresh supply air, leading to potential odor transfer.
– With today’s new counterflow heat exchanger technology, efficiency is on par with or even higher than that of rotary heat exchangers.
